Caution in the rain pays off – Lydden Sprint 10-May-14

Build

573BHP Ford Racing Whipple supercharger, KW competition suspension with modified valves for increased damping. Increased rear spring rates. Yokohama Advan road tyres (MSA list 1A).

Performance

Due to heavy rain and hydraulic fluid spilled all over the track by a recovery vehicle, conditions were the most slippery I have yet encountered, therefore I was unable to take advantage of the improved power and stiffer suspension.

Results

The Porsche had much more grip and was uncatchable in the wet. Kevin Lower was quicker, both through having less weight and more grip than the mustang as well as much less concern for the wellbeing of the car, throwing it with abandon through every corner. This resulted in two spins in the gravel, so I was able to take second place as the track dried on the final lap.
